This week has felt like someone pressed shuffle on my life and then wandered off, leaving the chaos to loop indefinitely.

On paper, it was supposed to be simple: Hand in my first MA submission. A website prototype (hello, you’re looking at it) and a 2,000‑word production diary documenting the creative processes I’ve tested so far.

In reality? Picture juggling flaming torches while someone keeps handing you cats.

The MA Hand‑In (aka: The Big Exhale)

The prototype is submitted, the production diary is done, and I’m still slightly amazed that my brain didn’t melt during the final edit. There’s something surreal about writing academically about your own creative chaos,  like narrating your life while also living it.

But it’s in. It’s done. And honestly? I’m proud of it.

The Headache Mystery Tour

Because life loves balance, my youngest decided to contribute his own drama by headbutting a table at school. Cue a little A&E adventure.

He’s absolutely fine — in fact, he enjoyed a full bouncing, giggling, trampoline‑style jumping session on the hospital bed (he’s non‑verbal, but his joy is very, very loud).

The Sticker Struggle

Meanwhile, in the creative corner of my world: I attempted to make my own stickers at home. Design Space took one look at my scanned images and said, “No thank you.”

Everything printed blurry, smudgy, or like it had been filtered through a dream sequence. So now I’m exploring third‑party printing options, because apparently my printer has entered its diva era. And back to practising with the Cricut.

Wardrobe Chaos & Fast Cars

This weekend I decluttered my wardrobe while Jason was off driving fast posh cars like a man auditioning for Top Gear. Two bags of clothes gone. Zero extra space created. I’m convinced my clothes multiply when the door is shut.

Acrylics, Clay & Characters Coming Alive

One of the brightest moments of the week was spending time with my eldest, teaching him how to use acrylics for his college project (he prefers biro). I then painted a little portrait of Blink the snail (small, round, slightly confused-looking), and it turned out ridiculously cute.

Then we cracked out the polymer clay — and suddenly my characters started coming to life in my hands. Tiny, quirky, full of personality. It felt like opening a door I didn’t realise was waiting for me.

And Breathe... well one more week of work and then breathe (half term)

So yes,  it’s been a week of:

  • deadlines

  • medical mysteries

  • parenting acrobatics

  • printer tantrums

  • unexpected creativity

  • and a whole lot of love holding everything together.

Please reach out on Instagram, we are still learning this website stuff and a comment box will be added soon.

Until next time, Emma x
