The Painted Chapter began as a quiet little idea shared between us, part daydream, part doodle, part “what if we actually did this?”. What started as a whispered possibility has grown into a shared vision: a cosy, creative space shaped by art, stories, good food, and the beautiful chaos of family life.

Right now, our world lives mostly online, but every follow, every kind message, every curious wanderer helps us take one step closer to building the physical space we dream of, one filled with warmth, imagination, and community.

A Creative Space Taking Shape

The Painted Chapter is an emerging hybrid giftshop, café, and art studio based in Norwich. It’s a project built slowly and intentionally, shaped by creativity, community, and the belief that everyone deserves a place where imagination feels safe and accessible. We’re in the early stages of development, and this space is growing alongside us, one idea, one sketch, and one conversation at a time.

Who Are We

Together, we’re building a space that blends our strengths: creativity, care, storytelling, and good food.

Jason

Step‑dad to four boys and recently stepping into the role of carer for Riley, our youngest, who has profound autism and PICA syndrome. Former chef with over two decades of experience making food that feels like home and brings people together.

Emma

Mum to four energetic boys aged 7–17, and a committed advocate for her youngest son’s additional needs. I work as an SEMH art teacher, creative practitioner, and MA student exploring how inclusive, sensory‑aware environments can support wellbeing, expression, and belonging.

What We're Building Towards

Our long‑term vision is a fully functional physical space that brings together:

a maker's gift shop featuring local art, trinkets and goodies. Plus a few books!
an art studio offering accessible, creative sessions as well as tutoring sessions.
a cosy café shaped by Jason’s experience and passion for flavour
workshops, community events, and creative events.

Right now, we’re documenting the journey — the experiments, the prototypes, the learning, and the tiny triumphs, all as part of Emma's MA in Creative Practice.
